Most Valuable Student Scholarship and Legacy Scholarship

Fredericksburg Elks Lodge is happy to announce The Elks National Foundation (ENF) has kicked off the 2025 scholarship year.  Here are the details for the Most Valuable Student and Legacy Awards.

Most Valuable Student Scholarship (MVS) Contest:

The 2025 MVS application is now open.  Applications can be found online at enf.elks.org/MVSThe application deadline is midnight, November 12, 2024.

The ENF awards 500 four-year scholarships based on academics, leadership, community service and financial need.  National awards range from $1,000 per year to $7,500 per year.  A total of $2.52 million will be given in 2025.  The national awards will be announced April, 2025. Last year there were 7 MVS scholarships given in the amount of $20,000 each to Virginia students.

In addition, in the academic year ending 2024, the Virginia Elks Association awarded 15 state scholarships in the amount of $4,000 each.  There were 7 MVS scholarships given in the amount of $20,000 and our lodge awarded 5 scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each to local student scholars.  There were also 4 Legacy Scholarships given in Virginia.

MVS scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), at a U. S. college or university next school year (2025).  Some important applicant details include:

  • Current high school seniors (or equivalent) who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants do not have to be related to a member of the Elks.
  • Male and female students compete separately.

Legacy Scholarship Awards:

The legacy Awards program is also now open.  Legacy Awards provide $4,000 ($1,000 per year) scholarships for children, step-children and grandchildren of dues paying Elk members. The ENF offers a total of 350 national awards.  The application deadline is midnight February 3, 2025.
